Job summary

Woodridge68 is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support a K-6 classroom and help improve educational outcomes. You will assist with instructional tasks, work with individuals and groups, and help implement behavior strategies under supervision.

Qualifications

  • Paraprofessional Educator License with Stipulations required.
  • Experience assisting in K-6 classrooms preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides feedback with teachers regarding student progress, interests, or challenges.
  • Assists with organization and implementation of instructional tasks and materials.
  • Works with individuals and small groups to review, reinforce, or expand skills.
  • Records observations of student behaviors and performance aligned to curriculum and IEP goals.
  • Assists with door, hall, and recess duties as needed.
  • Participates in in-service training programs.
  • Uses observation, proximity and prompting to maximize student independence.
  • Assists in behavior management under supervision and supports self-control strategies.
  • Handles confidential information in line with district procedures.
  • Aids mobility and self-care needs as directed by the educational team.
  • Provides support for participation in specials (art, PE, music, etc.).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Description

Teaching Assistant needed in a K-6 building to work with students to improve educational outcomes and to provide support within a general education classroom so all students can become active participants in the setting.

Job Summary
  • Provides relevant feedback with the teacher(s) regarding the child's progress, interest levels, or challenges.
  • Assists with the organization and implementation of instructional tasks and materials as directed to support learning and the instructional process.
  • Works with individuals and small groups at the teacher's request in review, reinforcement, enrichment, and/or expansion of skills and concepts presented.
  • Records observations of students' behaviors and performance in accordance with the curriculum and the student's IEP goals.
  • Assists with various tasks such as door duty, hall duty, recess duty.
  • Participates in in-service training programs as assigned.
  • Utilizes observation, proximity and the prompting hierarchy as directed to maximize student independence.
  • Assists in positive behavior management under the direction of the teacher and team, implementing specific behavior intervention strategies as directed to guide learners in using self-control and self-management strategies which may include physical management.
  • Utilizes confidential and personal information concerning students and staff for professional purposes only, in accordance with District procedures.
  • Assists with mobility and self-care needs of students as necessary using an individual or team approach as directed by guidelines established by PT and educational team.
  • Provides any assistance needed for successful participation in specials (e.g., art, PE, music, etc.).
  • Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned.
Qualifications

Working Conditions

6.5 hours per day (8:00 to 3:00 p.m.) Monday‑Friday

Salary Range

$19.67 – $21.50 dependent upon experience Competitive Benefits
