Job summary

The Hawaii State Department of Education is seeking a Special Education teacher to work with elementary students. This role includes collaborating with the General Education teacher and performing care-coordination responsibilities as part of daily duties.

Preferred candidates hold a Hawaii Teacher Standards Board Special Education license and have K-12 SPED classroom experience. A Bachelor's Degree is the minimum qualification; candidates without full licensure have up to three years to obtain

Qualifications

• Preferred: Valid Special Education license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.
• K-12 special education classroom experience preferred.
• Plan and facilitate IEP meetings; exercise independent and professional judgment in daily functions.
• Hawaii licensing requirements alignment and active pursuit of license if not yet licensed.

Responsibilities

• Teach elementary SPED students in a K-12 setting and coordinate with General Education teachers.
• Collaborate with care coordinators and other support staff to ensure student success.
• Plan, facilitate and document IEP meetings; maintain momentum and deadlines.
