Job summary

Northwest Special Recreation Association (NWSRA) in Rolling Meadows, IL is seeking a part-time Inclusion Assistant to support individuals with disabilities in local park district programs. This role focuses on inclusion, safety and enriching participants' experiences.

You will assist with activities, provide accommodations, attend orientations, and interact with participants, parents and staff. Requires empathy, dependability and willingness to learn; training provided.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age.
• Interest or experience working with children and adults with disabilities.
• Dependability, promptness, flexibility and punctuality.
• Enthusiasm for recreation programming and ability to engage in physical activities.
• Willingness to learn and accept new ideas.
• Able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist with inclusion of participants in park district programs and act as part of the program.
• Advocate for participants, provide disability awareness information, emphasize abilities.
• Assist in participation of recreational activities and provide accommodations as needed.
• Attend to participants' personal care needs including toileting, feeding and changing.
• Encourage participant friendships and communicate with coworkers.
• Demonstrate creativity and enthusiasm in activities and tasks.
• Attend orientations, meetings and trainings required by NWSRA and the park district.
