Job summary

ASM Research, An Accenture Federal Services Company, is seeking a Mid-level Cybersecurity Incident Response Engineer to support detection, containment, and recovery of incidents across enterprise networks and mission-critical systems in a regulated government environment.

You will develop response playbooks, automate triage, and coordinate with cross-functional teams to isolate affected systems while preserving evidence and ensuring auditability and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of hands-on cybersecurity operations and incident response experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, cybersecurity, CS, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Proven experience with incident response tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, and EDR.
• Strong understanding of incident response, containment and eradication, and data security best practices.
• Strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct technical analysis of security events and incidents with SIEM/EDR/IDS to identify vectors and data exposure.
• Develop and refine incident response runbooks and automation workflows.
• Coordinate system and network isolation to contain threats while preserving evidence.
• Support proactive defensive engineering, tuning detections and building automated countermeasures.
• Perform host and network forensics to support root cause analysis and compliance needs.
• Map attacker behavior to MITRE ATT&CK for improved detection.
• Ensure incident handling aligns with data security and applicable policies.
• Produce incident timelines and lessons learned for awareness and improvements.
