Job summary

A local fire department in Belton seeks a motivated Full-Time Engineer/Firefighter. This role involves emergency response, fire apparatus operation, community safety programs, and inspections. Candidates must have a valid SC driver’s license, firefighting experience, and relevant certifications. Competitive salary range of approximately $41,000 - $43,000, plus benefits including retirement and health insurance. Training opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizen at least 18 years of age.
• Must pass SLED background check, pre-employment physical and drug test.
• Valid South Carolina driver’s license (Class E or B within 6 months).
• At least one year of full-time firefighting experience or three years of volunteer experience.
• Minimum NFPA Firefighter I certification (NFPA Firefighter II preferred).
• SCFA HazMat Operations certification (Technician preferred).
• Emergency Medical Responder certification (DOT or ASHI required).

Responsibilities

• Respond to and operate fire apparatus for emergency services.
• Conduct inspections of commercial structures and develop pre-fire plans.
• Perform maintenance and testing of fire hydrants and firefighting apparatus.
• Teach community safety and risk reduction programs.
