Job summary

Target General Merchandise in California (Hesperia area) is hiring for a full‑time role focused on guest service and store operations. You will lead hourly team members, manage daily workloads, train staff, and ensure a welcoming guest experience while adhering to company standards.

Responsibilities

• Guest service fundamentals and guest-first culture.
• Retail business fundamentals, including department sales trends, inventory management, guest shopping patterns, pricing and promotions strategies.
• Planning department(s) daily/weekly workload to support business priorities and deliver sales goals.
• Leading a team of hourly team members, including skills in interviewing, developing, coaching, evaluating and retaining talent.
• Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly guest experience.
• Ensures every team member understands, is trained, and consistently delivers on Target’s guest experience commitments and consistent operations.
• Actively observes and provides feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments.
• Reviews area guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, takes action to improve, and aligns team on the right behaviors and execution, celebrates wins, drives results that deliver outcomes and elevates the guest experience.
• Understanding sales goals and plans, and executing daily/weekly workload to deliver department and store sales goals and guest engagement.
• Leading and sharing expertise in operations, freshness, accuracy and efficiency.
• With guidance from your direct leader, establish clear goals and expectations and hold team members accountable to expectations.
• With the guidance of your direct leader, utilize your workload planning tools to complete all scheduled workload ensuring areas are guest ready at store open.
• Assign daily tasks to TMs based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns, ensuring alignment with weekly and monthly business priorities set by your direct leader.
• Assess all GM backroom, sales floor areas and review reporting to identify gaps and develop a plan to resolve any issues identified.
• Enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product is available for purchase.
• Assist your direct leader in leading and following up on organizational and operational change.
• With guidance and assistance from your direct leader, build a team of GM Experts from initial selection through onboarding and learning.
• Develop team members through ongoing training and direction by giving direction and providing feedback when validating work completion
• Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and approaches, being authentic and respectful, and creating equitable experiences
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance; lead team to work in the same way and hold others accountable to this commitment
• Lead and demonstrate a safety culture through modeling and recognizing safe behaviors, identifying and correcting hazards, holding team accountable to following safety expectations, assisting with incident response, and reporting/investigating injuries timely and accurately
• Model the execution of physical security processes in order to enhance the store security culture
• Support merchandise protection strategies across the total store, including ordering, storage and application as directed by best practices
• If applicable, as a key carrier, follow all safe and secure training and processes
• Occasionally assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities to enable the guest experience for the store during assigned shifts based on store needs
• Address all store and offsite emergency and compliance needs
• Support guest services such as back‑up cashier, order pick up (OPU) and Drive‑up (DU) and maintain a compliance culture while executing those duties, such as compliance with federal, state, and local adult beverage laws
• All other duties based on business needs.

The starting pay range for this position per hour is $24.25 - $26.25. The full pay range for this position per hour is $24.25 - $41.25 Pay is based on several factors which vary based on position. These include labor markets and in some instances may include education, work experience and certifications.

Experts of operations, process and efficiency who enable a consistent experience for our guests by ensuring product merchandised and available, accurately priced and signed on the sales floor. The General Merchandise and Food Sales team leads inbound, outbound, replenishment, and promotional signing processes for all General Merchandise (GM) areas of the store. This team leads Food & Beverage and Food Service, providing a fresh and food safe experience. Experts enable efficient delivery to our guests by owning pick, pack and ship fulfillment work. The Inbound team are experts at unloading trailer deliveries and preparing the merchandise to be stocked on the sales floor. Additional Requirements

This task involves repetitive bending, twisting, reaching, and rotating motions Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays); reliable and prompt attendance necessary Although the role is full‑time, it does not come with a guarantee of 40 hours each week.
