Job summary

Merge Labs in San Francisco is seeking a Research Associate to join our Bio team and advance molecular biosensors for brain–computer interfaces. You will design and execute in vivo imaging experiments in rodents, optimize delivery and expression with ultrasound‑based tools, and generate rigorous data to inform technical strategy.

Qualifications

• BS/BA/MS in Neuroscience, Biology, Bioengineering, or related field required.
• Hands-on experience with in vivo brain imaging experiments in model organisms (e.g., mouse).
• Strong attention to detail and rigorous documentation.
• Collaborative, organized approach to experimental work and cross-team communication.
• Experience in academic or industry research labs doing in vivo systems neuroscience work.

Responsibilities

• Execute in vivo ultrasound imaging experiments including handling of animals, imaging setup, calibration, and session execution.
• Collaborate to improve in vivo validation pipelines in rodents for molecular biosensors, including surgical workflows and imaging setup.
• Design and perform in vivo experiments to benchmark biosensor performance in neuroscience contexts.
• Maintain lab records, inventories, and shared resources.
• Learn new techniques and contribute to method development as the program grows.
