Job summary

Shelby County Schools seeks a staff member to support instructional and behavioral activities for students referred for in-school suspension. The role requires an associate degree or 48 college hours, plus two years of experience with urban or disadvantaged youth.

CPR and First Aid certification, or the ability to obtain, are required. Degree equivalency is described: a Bachelor’s degree equals four years plus required experience; a Master’s degree equals two years plus required experience.

Job description

Purpose and Scope

This position is responsible for instructional and behavioral activities for students referred by the school principal or assistant principal for in-school suspension.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s degree, or two (2) years of college (minimum of 48 semester hours) from an, or a passing score on the ParaPro Assessment Test. Also requires two (2) years of experience working with urban and/or disadvantaged youth. Must possess or be able to obtain certification in CPR and First Aid.

Degree Equivalency Formula:

Bachelor’s Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.

Master’s Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master’s degrees are required, years for Bachelor’s degrees must be included.
