Job summary

Torrey Holistics is hiring a In-Process Metrology & Quality Technician (Plastics Packaging) to act as the quality gatekeeper from mold to pallet. You will move between lines, sample products, and advise operators to ensure every bottle meets specifications.

You will set up and use Magna Mike gauges and precision scales, calibrate daily, document results, and escalate issues with supervisors. A detail-oriented professional thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Walk the lines to audit visual inspections and partner with Inspector Packers to spot defects and uphold an organized, clean work area.
  • Collect representative samples and run dimensional and visual checks to ensure specifications are met.
  • Complete first-article verifications after changeovers and line start-ups per SOP; approve or hold as needed.
  • Set up and operate test equipment to perform measurements on selected samples.
  • Calibrate and verify test equipment daily; record results on check sheets.
  • Elevate quality issues and nonconformances to supervisors and communicate corrective actions.
  • Contain, segregate, and identify nonconforming materials and products per SOP.
  • Document all tests and follow SOP procedures; maintain a safe work environment.

Job description

In-Process Metrology & Quality Technician (Plastics Packaging)

From the moment the first bottle leaves the mold to the last case on the pallet, you are the quality gatekeeper. You’ll move between production lines, sampling, measuring, and advising operators so every bottle meets spec - every time.

A day in this role
  • Walk the lines to audit visual inspections and partner with Inspector Packers to spot defects and uphold an organized, clean work area across the plant.
  • Collect representative samples from each line and run dimensional and visual checks to confirm products meet all specifications.
  • Complete first-article verifications after changeovers and at line start-ups per the SOP/Work Procedure Manual; approve or hold as needed.
  • Set up and operate test equipment (including Magna Mike thickness gauges, precision scales, and other instruments) to perform measurements on selected samples.
  • Calibrate and verify test equipment daily using calibration gauges/weights; record results on required check sheets.
  • Immediately elevate quality issues and nonconformances to the Production and/or Quality Supervisor and communicate corrective actions to operators.
  • Contain, segregate, and properly identify nonconforming raw materials and finished goods in accordance with the SOP/Work Procedure Manual.
  • Document all tests, measurements, and quality evaluations accurately and follow all procedures defined in the SOP/Work Procedure Manual.
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy environment by following company standards and applicable regulations and by alerting others to potential concerns.
  • Wear required PPE correctly at all times and model safe work practices.
  • Keep your workstation and surrounding areas clean; perform additional cleaning tasks on equipment or areas when directed by your Supervisor.
  • Train on the Inspector Packer role to provide backup and break coverage when needed; follow plant job specifications and task lists.
