Job summary

Amity Foundation is seeking compassionate individuals for the Counselor I role in its in-prison ISUDTP programs. The position involves delivering rehabilitative services, facilitating evidence-based CBI classes, and documenting progress in ARMS.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with an organization approved by DHCS and obtain AOD certification within five years.
• Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of substance abuse; appreciation for behavioral, psychological, physical and social effects of drug abuse.
• Knowledge of ISUDTP contract requirements.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
• Operational knowledge of MS Office Suite and ARMS.
• Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectivity under pressures; demonstrate ethical behavior to protect participants.
• Protect and maintain participants’ health, safety, welfare, and confidentiality of records.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate CBI classes using evidence-based curriculum.
• Conduct class and individual sessions to develop release prevention/action plans or provide make-up work.
• Evaluate and document progress of participants in their classes.
• Document delivery of CBI programming services in ARMS.
• Engage participants daily and reinforce group norms and expectations.
• Collaborate with CDCR/CCHCS HQ, local institutions, and CDCR staff.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by the Contractor.
