Job summary

Cypress In-Line Inspection, LLC is seeking an experienced In-line Inspection Electronics Engineering Technician – Level I or II in Millcreek, UT. The role involves hands-on operation of ILI tools (Caliper, MFL, AGM, IMU) and client interfacing during pipeline inspections.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in ILI work, an engineering or technical degree, and strong safety and communication skills. On-site work and training are required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in technical operations of ILI tools for Caliper, MFL, AGM and IMU technologies.
  • Formal engineering degree and/or accredited technical/vocational training in related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of ILI-related work experience or ILI-PQ Level II qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure ILI tools and equipment pass all checks and calibrations for mobilization.
  • Provide onsite support to clients and interface with their staff during inspections.
  • Review equipment damage and ensure data is collected for HQ analysis to avoid re-runs.
  • Perform post-run QA/QC analysis on MFL, Geometry and IMU data.
  • Mentor and train Trainee and Level I Technicians and others.
  • Promote safe working practices and regulatory standards.

The Cypress In-Line Inspection, LLC (“Cypress”) is a young technology company providing in-line pipeline inspection services to the municipal water and energy industries. We have a very talented team of industry veterans including mechanical, electrical, software, signal processing engineers that work closely with our field technicians. Our ultra-high resolution fifth generation (“5G”) Eco Vision™ ILI tools offer best in class Magnetic Flux Leakage (“MFL”) technology. We work for some of the most prestigious municipal water authorities and energy pipeline companies in the world including but not limited to the City of Denver, City of San Francisco, Jordan Valley, North Jersey Water Supply Commission, Washington County Water, City of Denver; and energy companies like Bridger, Chevron, Crescent Midstream, Dominion/Enbridge, DCP Midstream, Energy Transfer, Marathon, Phillips 66, Targa Midstream, Lower Valley Energy, United States Air Force, Williams Companies, etc. We also have next generation proprietary Eco View™ data analysis software that allows us to provide our customers with high quality reporting. Our fleet of tools range from 6” to 24” currently, and we continue to expand our fleet.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced adaptable In-line Inspection Electronics Engineering Technician – Level I or II to join our growing team. The role offers a unique opportunity for a skilled engineering technician to learn about our tools. This position will report to the Director of Operations.

Required Skills & Key Responsibilities

  • Possessing the experience and a full understanding in the technical operations of ILI tools for Caliper, MFL, AGM and IMU technologies.
  • Ensuring that the company’s ILI tools and equipment pass all mandatory checks and calibrations and are ready for mobilization.
  • Providing onsite support to the company’s clients and interfacing directly with the client’s staff and technical team members during the pipeline inspection.
  • Reviewing and reporting any damage to the equipment; and ensuring the ILI data has been properly collected for further analysis at the company’s headquarters to avoid re-runs.
  • Ability to complete post run QA/QC Analysis on MFL, Geometry and IMU tool data.
  • Mentoring and training Trainee and Level I Engineering Technicians and others.
  • Strong understanding of launching and receiving of ILI systems and associated support equipment.
  • Promote Environmental, Health & Safety and always follow safe working practices.
  • Participate in training sessions and pass required exams ANSI/ASNT ILI-PQ- standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of PHMSA Part 192 and 195 regulations, API, NACE and ASME standards and recommended practices is preferred Formal engineering degree and/or completion of accredited technical/vocational college training and/or minimum 3 years of corresponding ILI related work experience or current ILI-PQ Level II Tool Operator Qualification
  • US Citizen or Foreign National holding US work authorized visa, valid US driver’s license, responsible driving skills, and acceptable motor vehicle history
