Job summary

Viridi is seeking a Level 3 In-House Service Technician to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and validate equipment returned for service. You will work on Battery Energy Storage Systems, electric excavators, and battery packs/modules in a non-customer-facing role.

The ideal candidate has hands-on electrical/mechanical skills, can interpret schematics, and follows engineering and service procedures to ensure safe, accurate repairs with thorough documentation. This role is on-site at Viridi NY.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical school or hands-on electrical/mechanical training preferred.
• 3+ years of relevant technical experience preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting ability with electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with battery systems, BMS diagnostics, and high-voltage systems preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to safely disassemble/reassemble equipment.
• Ability to follow procedures, safety rules, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair BESS equipment, electric excavators, battery packs/modules, and related systems.
• Perform approved repairs on equipment returned to Viridi for service.
• Inspect, diagnose, disassemble, repair, reassemble, and validate batteries as required.
• Connect to batteries to collect diagnostic data and review fault codes.
• Troubleshoot BMS, electrical, communication, charging, control, and mechanical faults.
• Use schematics, service docs, and engineering instructions during repairs.
• Safely use meters, diagnostic software, torque tools, and other test equipment.
• Follow high-voltage battery procedures, LOTO, electrical safety, and battery handling.
• Support failure analysis with engineering and other teams; document findings.

In-House Service Technician

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Level 3 In-House Service Technician to join our Service Team. This position is responsible for the diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair, and validation of equipment returned to Viridi for service. The primary focus of this role will be Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), electric excavators, battery packs/modules, and related electrical and mechanical systems. This is an in-house technical position and is not customer-facing. The technician will work closely with the Service Manager, Service Engineers, Quality, Engineering, and Operations to safely identify equipment failures, perform approved repairs, and return equipment to proper operating condition.

What We Are Looking For:

The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical problem solver who is comfortable working with complex electrical, battery, and mechanical systems. This technician should be capable of independently diagnosing faults, performing detailed repairs, following engineering and service procedures, and documenting findings accurately.

Success in this role means completing repairs safely, correctly, and efficiently while maintaining a high standard of workmanship and documentation.

Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair BESS equipment, electric excavators, battery packs/modules, and associated electrical and mechanical systems.
• Perform approved repairs on equipment returned to Viridi for service.
• Perform battery inspection, diagnostics, disassembly, repair, reassembly, and validation as required.
• Connect to batteries and equipment to collect diagnostic data, review fault codes, and identify system issues.
• Troubleshoot BMS, electrical, communication, charging, control, and mechanical system faults.
• Utilize electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, service documentation, and engineering instructions when performing repairs.
• Safely utilize meters, diagnostic software, torque tools, and other required test equipment.
• Follow established procedures for high-voltage battery systems, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, and battery handling.
• Work with Service Engineering and other technical teams to assist with failure analysis and root-cause investigations.
• Complete required testing and verification following repairs prior to equipment release.
• Accurately complete, document, and close Repair Orders.
• Record detailed daily repair notes, findings, parts used, and work completed in Odoo.
• Escalate unusual failures, safety concerns, recurring issues, or conditions outside approved repair procedures.
• Maintain tools, work areas, battery repair areas, and equipment in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
• Support production, retrofit, rework, or other technical activities when service workload allows and with supervisor approval.
• Follow approved work instructions, Service Bulletins, engineering documentation, and quality requirements.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical school, electrical/mechanical training, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.
• 3+ years of relevant technical, electrical, mechanical, automotive, heavy-equipment, battery, or industrial service experience preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting ability with electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience using digital multimeters and other electrical diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Experience with battery systems, BMS diagnostics, lithium-ion batteries, high-voltage DC systems, EV equipment, or energy storage systems strongly preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to safely perform equipment disassembly and reassembly.
• Ability to follow torque specifications, repair procedures, safety requirements, and quality standards.
• Strong computer skills and ability to accurately document repair activity in Odoo and other service systems.
• Ability to manage multiple pieces of equipment and repair priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for communicating technical findings internally.

Salary:

• $19 - $22 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
