Job summary

FIVE ACRES is seeking a dedicated TSH professional to provide therapeutic, behavioral skill-building services to children and families, and to respond to urgent situations. You will collaborate with a DCFS team, conduct intakes 24/7, and plan recreational activities aligned with treatment goals.

You will maintain documentation, communicate with the client team weekly, and participate in supervision. Flexibility, strong bilingual skills, and Pro-Act/First Aid certifications are valued.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma plus two years of mental health experience (paid or unpaid). Bachelor's degree in a mental health related field preferred.
  • Mental health experience includes serving children and/or adults to improve or restore social, vocational, economic, housing and/or mental functioning.
  • Must have a valid California Driver License, proof of automobile insurance, and meet the Agency's safe driver guidelines.
  • Availability of a personal car with appropriate insurance for Agency business, if needed; adhere to federal motor vehicle safety standards when transporting children.
  • Knowledge of the family patterns, child-rearing practices, and cultural groups served by the program.
  • Ability to pass Pro-Act certification training.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work in a changing environment.
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office and WELLIGENT for program notes.
  • Ability to work varied hours including evenings, nights and weekends.
  • Maintain Pro-Act and First Aid/CPR certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Provides therapeutic, behavioral skill-building services to children, young adults, and families.
  • Responds to urgent and crisis situations.

  • Maintains weekly communication with DCFS staff and the client’s team.
  • Prepares and submits documentation promptly; maintains confidentiality.
  • Participates in case supervision and applies feedback to practice.
  • Establishes rapport with clients, families, and community; works within the agency.
  • Attends meetings and client appointments with the TSH team and families.
  • Completes client risk assessments and communicates risks to the team.
  • Keeps knowledge of program standards and policies; pursues ongoing learning.
  • Maintains confidentiality of client information and agency operations.
  • Incorporates agency philosophy and mission in performance.
  • Maintains professional relationships with clients at all times.

Job description


  • Provides therapeutic, behavioral skill-building services to children, young adults, and families. Assists in managing the behavior of clients through the use of approved behavioral management techniques/interventions. Available to respond to urgent and crisis situations.

  • Under the direct supervision of TSH Supervisor and in collaboration with DCFS co-located staff, staff will conduct intakes and orientations to newly admitted children on a 24-hour 7 day a week basis.

  • Plans, implements, and facilitates the constructive use of leisure time through therapeutic activities in coordination with families.

  • Maintain regular weekly communication/consultation with DCFS staff and client's team in order to stay updated on client treatment, needs, and care coordination opportunities.

  • Prepares, maintains, and submits all documentation and reports promptly, maintains confidentiality in all matters of Agency personnel, operations, and clients.

  • Participates in case supervision by coming prepared to discuss current clients, and program documentation; accepts constructive feedback and direction; and puts feedback into therapeutic practice with clients.

  • Establishes and maintains rapport and effective working relationships with clients, families, and community; works effectively within the TSH position and community at large.

  • Attends/participates in TSH meetings (Child and Family Team Meetings and team consultations when necessary) and attends/participates in client appointments with TSH team, clients, and families.

  • Completes client risk assessments in accordance with TSH program trainings/protocols. Ensure immediate communication of client risks to TSH team, TSH supervisors, and DCFS.

  • Maintains knowledge of program standards and policies as developed by Five Acres, COA, Community Care Licensing, and other governing bodies; develops personal and professional knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the art practices; participating in in-service programs.

  • Maintains confidentiality over all information regarding clients, families, and operations of the Agency (including media).

  • Incorporates Agency philosophy and mission in all aspects of job performance.

  • Maintains a professional relationship with clients at all times.

Compensation Range: $19.38/hr - $28.67/hr
