Job summary

School-Based Behavior Consultation is seeking a qualified ABA therapist (RBT) to implement individualized ABA programs for children with autism and related disabilities in school, home, and community settings. The role emphasizes data collection, progress monitoring, and collaboration with BCBA supervisors and school teams.

You will read and apply behavior change protocols, train staff, and maintain accurate session notes while ensuring client safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1 year experience implementing ABA in natural environment or 2 years in school setting.
• RBT certification required; CPR/CPI preferred.

SBBC provides ABA therapy & behavior support interventions in-school & in-home to improve social skills, academics, vocational skills, functional skills, & communication. This is accomplished through the use of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) & in collaboration with other specialists, school staff, the students we serve, & caregivers.SBBC is student-oriented. Summary

Responsible for providing skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with autism, serious emotional disabilities and other developmental disabilities in the school, home, and/or community settings, under the direction of a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst). The ABA therapist will collect data on programs, assist with staff training, and assist with assessments as needed.

Work Day

As an RBT, ABA therapy implementation services are required for approximately 30-40 hours per week.

• W-2 position starts at $18 - $24 per hour

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Essential Functions

• Directly implement prescribed individual programs, treatment plans, behavior intervention plans and/or group programs utilizing ABA strategies and interventions.
• Provide direct care and supervision of clients receiving services to ensure health and safety.
• Read, understand, and implement behavior change protocols and teaching techniques
• Accept feedback and ongoing training and implement it in client therapy sessions.
• Accurately collect, record and summarize data as prescribed.
• Document interventions, progress data, session notes
• Immediately report to BCBA any student incidents/variances or complaints.
• Communicate with staff and/or caregivers regarding student progress as instructed by the BCBA.
• Establishes & maintains therapeutic relationship by pairing self as a reinforcing entity and building the value for the client of social interaction with the RBT.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow workplace policies.
• Attend work and arrive in a timely manner.

Other Functions

• Assist with skill acquisition and behavioral assessments.
• Assist with preparing materials as necessary.
• Collaborate with school teams and attend meetings as necessary.
• Participate in in-service programs.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education And Related Work Experience

• Required: High School diploma or equivalent;
• Preferred: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Special Education or related field
• Required Work Experience:
• One year experience implementing ABA in the natural environment
• OR
• Two years experience in a school setting, working with students with behavior challenges (including students with Autism, SED and other developmental disabilities)

Licenses, Registrations Or Certifications

• Required: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
• Annual renewal and registration must be maintained throughout employment.
• Preferred: CPR and CPI Certification

Safety Requirements

Direct Supervisor

The RBT reports to an assigned supervising provider.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

• Therapists must frequently move between client environments within the clinic and engage in physical activities that involve sitting, standing, reaching, and occasional kneeling or crouching as part of therapeutic interventions.
• Assist clients with physical transitions or move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds as part of daily activities.
• Therapists must effectively analyze behavioral data, communicate with team members and clients, and use problem-solving skills to adapt therapy in real-time.
• Therapists need to maintain close and distance vision, including adjusting focus, to monitor clients' responses and adapt interventions accordingly.
• Work in environments where noise levels vary from moderate to loud due to active client interactions.
• Therapists should demonstrate sufficient mobility and strength to implement safety interventions when necessary, following behavioral safety protocols.
• Therapists must possess the stamina and coping skills to manage potentially stressful and emotionally charged situations that arise in therapy.
