Job summary

Visiting Angels is seeking an In Home Personal Aide to support senior clients across East Texas, including Longview and surrounding areas. You will help with daily personal care, light housekeeping, medications reminders, meals, and mobility assistance, enabling clients to stay safely at home.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, reliable transportation, strong communication, and a caring disposition.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent time-management skills needed.
• Reliable transportation to client visits required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills required.
• Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks recommended.
• Must pass background check and drug screen.
• Training/knowledge in First Aid and emergency response preferred.
• A heart for vulnerable people and meaningful companionship.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene.
• Manage light housekeeping for clients' homes.
• Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
• Prompt clients to take prescribed medications on time.
• Assist with shopping and groceries, or shop on clients' behalf.
• Plan and prepare meals with clients based on their abilities.
• Assist with mobility and accompany clients to appointments and activities.

A Visiting Angels In Home Personal Aide wears many hats as they help our elderly and home-care clients stay at home or recover at home with dignity.

While no two client visits look exactly alike, responsibilities may include:

• Helping clients handle personal care and hygiene
• Managing light housekeeping
• Encouraging clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals
• Prompting clients to take their prescription medications at the right times
• Helping clients with shopping and putting away groceries (or shopping for them)
• Planning and preparing meals in collaboration with clients (based on client ability)
• Assisting clients with mobility and ambulation - this can include everything from getting around the house to visiting the doctor and taking walks

An In Home Personal Aide must also be prepared to act quickly in the case of medical emergencies. This includes adequately reporting any health changes or unusual circumstances. Our caregivers possess the ideal blend of competency, compassion, and professional discernment.
