Job summary

AW Health Care is seeking a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide intermittent occupational therapy in patients' residences under physician orders and the supervision of an Occupational Therapist and the Director of Therapy, Outpatient. This position can be Full Time or Part Time to service our St Louis County facilities.

Qualifications

• Must be a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) per AOTA.
• Maintains certification in the state(s) of practice.
• Two years of experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understands and adheres to Agency policies and procedures.
• Improves or minimizes residual physical disabilities of the patient.
• Returns the patient to optimum and productive level within their capabilities.
• Participates in patient care planning with all health care personnel.
• Performs skilled procedures as ordered by physician and per OT plan of care.
• Consults with OT regarding changes in treatment.
• Instructs patients and families in home programs and fine motor exercises.
• Participates in in-service education and presents in-service programs as assigned.
• Participates in performance improvement activities as assigned.
• Attends patient care conferences as scheduled.
• Prepares medical records and updates care plans for each patient visit.
• Performs services planned, delegated and supervised by the OT.
• Assists in preparing clinical and progress notes.
• Participates in educating the patient and family.

Education

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification

State licensure/certification
