Job summary

Tutor Me Education seeks passionate tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Glendale, CA. You will help students with IEP-based goals, daily activities, and academic instruction in reading, writing, and math within the students' homes.

Ideal candidates are credentialed teachers with strong literacy and numeracy skills and the ability to engage students with Autism or other needs through multisensory, structured lessons and positive behavior supports.

Qualifications

• Credentialed teacher required.
• Experience teaching elementary-age students in reading, math, and English.
• Experience working with students with Autism, speech delays, and/or behavioral challenges.
• Strong focus on foundational literacy and early reading skills.
• Ability to provide structured, engaging lessons for students with attention challenges.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized instruction in foundational reading, writing, math, and English.
• Teach phonics, letter-sound correspondence, CVC words, blending, decoding, and early reading fluency.
• Build foundational reading skills through explicit, multisensory instruction.
• Support handwriting, sentence formation, and written expression through guided practice.
• Reinforce number recognition, counting, and basic arithmetic skills.
• Break tasks into clear steps and maintain structured lessons and routines.
• Use visual supports, hands-on activities, movement breaks, and interactive instruction.
• Apply positive behavior support and calm redirection when needed.
• Support attention, focus, engagement, self-regulation and task completion.
• Incorporate student interests to boost motivation.
