In force Management Actuary – D band
Are you a commercially minded actuary who thrives at the intersection of analytics, strategy, and client impact? Do you want to go beyond the numbers and actively shape the financial performance of a global reinsurance portfolio? If so, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful difference.
This is a compelling opportunity for a qualified Fellow (or experienced Associate) of the Society of Actuaries to join Swiss Re's In-Force Management (IFM) team and play a central role in actively managing and optimizing the Americas Life & Health in force block, with a primary focus on the US portfolio.
In Force Management's mission is clear: defend and enhance the value of Swiss Re's Life & Health in force business. In support of this mission, you will develop actionable portfolio insights, design and execute value-accretive in force actions, and manage ongoing in force maintenance requests with discipline and responsiveness. In force actions create value through CSM generation, derisking underperforming business, and delivering capital and capacity relief.
This role offers rich technical development, deeper understanding of reinsurance treaty terms, meaningful client interactions, and the opportunity to sharpen your project management, negotiation, and communication skills.
The L&H In Force Management team sits within Swiss Re's broader L&H In Force Optimization global team — a collaborative, high-impact group that partners closely with Market Units worldwide to identify opportunities and execute actions that strengthen the performance, resilience, and growth of the global L&H in force portfolio.
The In Force Management team holds specific accountability for the US & Canada portfolios, driving performance improvement through treaty-level actions and negotiations. The team works hand-in-hand with US and Canada Market Units to enhance portfolio quality while preserving and strengthening valued client relationships. You'll be joining a team that combines deep technical expertise with a strong commercial mindset and a genuine commitment to collaboration.
You are a commercially minded actuarial professional with Life & Health (re)insurance expertise, strong analytical capacity, and the communication skills to translate complex portfolio insights into clear, compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences. You have a genuine desire to turn data into action — driving financial outcomes that matter for Swiss Re and its clients.
You bring a strategic mindset balanced with attention to detail, and you thrive in cross-functional environments where collaboration, clear communication, and accountability are essential. You are comfortable managing multiple priorities, navigating ambiguity, and delivering results on time-sensitive projects. You approach challenges with intellectual curiosity, a structured problem-solving mindset, and a commitment to transparency with senior stakeholders.
Our company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office three days per week, every week. In addition, this role does not offer relocation or any type of visa/visa transfer support.
