Job summary

Responsibilities include conducting hearings (remote and in person), issuing written decisions, and performing legal research; NY Bar admission and four years of relevant experience required; four-year term with potential renewal.

Qualifications

• Admitted to the New York State Bar and four years of relevant legal experience after admission.
• Experience supervising other attorneys in administrative, managerial or executive roles.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hearings by remote means and in person, evaluating evidence and maintaining courtroom procedures.
• Conduct settlement conferences between parents and the NYC Department of Education.
• Issue written decisions.
• Conduct legal research regarding state and federal education laws (IDEA, Section 504).
• Maintain professionalism and handle assigned matters promptly.
• Handle special assignments and oral/written presentations.
