Job summary

Wellstar Health System's Cobb Hospital is hiring a Utilization Management (UM) Nurse for day shifts, onsite. The role reviews medical necessity, coordinates care, and ensures timely authorizations using Indicia criteria, across units and payers.

The position requires a minimum of 3 years of clinical practice, a nursing license, and strong communication, with opportunities for sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. You will collaborate with physicians and care teams.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Case Management process and screening criteria.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to build strong relationships with physicians and multidisciplinary team.
• Familiarity with reviewing clinical data and applying criteria for level of care.

Responsibilities

• Initiates and conducts medical necessity reviews for health services.
• Ensures timely certification/authorization for hospital admissions and days.
• Documents reviews and updates EPIC accurately for payor requirements.
• Communicates with providers to coordinate care and transitions.
• Monitors and analyzes post-discharge documentation and denials to improve throughput.
