Job summary

The City of Cape Coral seeks Substitute Teachers to ensure continuity of learning when regular teachers are absent. Under supervision, you deliver instruction based on lesson plans and maintain a safe, respectful classroom.

Applicants should have an associate degree (bachelor preferred) and may need Florida Level 2 background screening. Candidates must model ethics, manage diverse tasks, and support school activities as needed.

• Basic knowledge of report and record-keeping principles.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the principal or designee on arrival and reviews school expectations.
• Maintains student behavior and promotes a respectful, well-managed classroom.
• Keeps a safe and inclusive learning environment aligned with lessons and objectives.
• Delivers instruction according to provided lesson plans using varied methods and resources.
• Consults with the principal before initiating procedures not in the lesson plans or handbook.
• Reports at day’s end to confirm attendance requirements for the next day.
• Follows Code of Ethics and school policies applicable to teachers.
• Promotes high performance and lifelong learning within the school culture.
• Assists with field trips, fundraisers, before/after school duties, and lunch/hall monitoring.
• Performs other duties as required.
