Job summary

Caretenders Home Health, a part of LHC Group and UnitedHealth Group, is seeking a Speech Therapist to assess and evaluate patient needs related to speech, language, swallowing, and cognitive impairments. Qualifications

• Licensed in Speech Therapy in the state of residence.
• CPR certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).

Responsibilities

• Provides services within the scope of practice as defined by the state laws governing the practice of speech therapy, in accordance with the plan of care, and in coordination with other health care team members.
• Evaluates the patient's function level using diagnostic and prognostic tests; assists physician in developing the therapy plan of care.
• Treats patients to improve communication by expressing thoughts according to the patient's condition and standards of practice.
• Observes, records, and reports patient response to treatment and changes in condition to the supervising nurse or physician.
• Instructs patient, family or caregiver and health care team in speech therapy areas for participation.
