Qualifications

• Massachusetts certification in Speech, Language, Hearing Handicapped.
• Master's and/or Bachelor's in Speech, Language, Hearing or related fields.
• Experience diagnosing and treating expressive disorders.
• Alternatives may be accepted by the Committee.
• Committee consists of Administrators and SLH Specialists.

Responsibilities

• Identify, diagnose and remediate speech, language and hearing difficulties per Chapter 766.
• Participate in TEAM Evaluation Meetings in each school.
• Screening and Evaluation of students.
• Screen preschool, kindergarten and new students.
• Evaluate children with diverse communicative disorders.
• Use uniform screening procedures with pre/posttests.
• Refer deaf/heard-of-hearing cases to medical specialists as needed.
• Contribute to TEAM Evaluations and educational plans.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team for plans and therapy.
• Advise parents and teachers to coordinate therapy.
• Maintain contact with administrators and staff.
• Prepare quarterly progress reports and final summaries.
• Keep official case records with confidentiality.
• Obtain parent release for record sharing.
• Maintain flexible caseload for itinerant staff.
