Job summary

Lawrence Unified School District is seeking a Paraeducator for SPED Specialized Classroom in Lawrence, Kansas. Positions may be filled as full-time or part-time with a .5–1.0 FTE, 4.0–8.0 hours per day, and 186 days per year. Location is TBD under USD 497.

The role supports high-quality instruction, behavior intervention, and daily care for students with extensive needs, working with teachers and service providers to deliver individualized supports and ensure safety.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Paraeducator in Title I building requires 48 college credit hours or equivalent.
• KS required training: Safe Crisis Management (SCM) and First Aid/CPR.

Responsibilities

• Adapt activities for all students to participate in classroom activities.
• Collect and record instructional and behavioral data.
• Assist with personal care and medical procedures as directed by nursing staff.
• Support teachers in implementing IEP objectives and behavior plans.
• Respond calmly to crisis situations following SCM procedures.
