Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1–2 years related experience preferred.
• Must pass the written test or meet the educational requirements of the No Child Left Behind Act.
• Ability to meet the requirements for and to apply for the aide permit with the Ohio Department of Education.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety of students.
• Reinforce instructional plans and/or assist with instructional activities in small groups or with individual students as directed by the teacher.
• Perform clerical tasks for teachers as needed, including record keeping.
• Assist and supervise children in various instructional settings including the classroom, lunchroom, playground, field trips, or hallways.
• Assist with behavior management of children as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Assist students with personal health care needs within the educational setting.
• Assist and supervise arrival and departure of students.
• Position and/or perform one-person or two-person lift of a child when needed (with training).
• Maintain confidentiality of all confidential materials.
