Job summary

Athens Area Schools is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for East Leroy Elementary. The candidate will be responsible for implementing approved curriculum and managing individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring effective instruction and a positive learning environment.

The ideal candidate should possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and a valid Michigan teaching certificate. Strong communication and adaptability skills are essential for collaborating with staff and families.

This full-time position reports to the Building Principal and offers an opportunity to contribute positively to the school community.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education from an accredited college or university.
• Master’s Degree or enrollment in a Master’s degree program preferred.
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate is required.

Responsibilities

• Teach and implement the Athens Area Schools-approved curriculum.
• Design, write, and effectively implement individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Deliver highly effective classroom instruction while maintaining a positive learning environment.
