Job summary

The School District of Pickens County is seeking a Special Education Resource Teacher to implement student IEPs and adapt learning programs to meet needs-based instruction. The position operates under the 190-days/7.5-hours schedule with SC Certification in Special Education required.

Responsibilities include planning instruction, data-driven assessment, collaboration with staff, and ensuring a safe, respectful classroom.

Qualifications

  • SC Certification in Special Education in categories such as Intellectual Disabilities, Multi-categorical, Severe Disabilities or related Special Education
  • IEP implementation experience and knowledge of related services are preferred
  • Ability to pass extensive background investigation is required

Responsibilities

  • Maintain awareness of best practices and current research to enhance instruction
  • Plan and develop strategies to increase student achievement addressing individual differences
  • Use data to gauge student progress and guide instruction
  • Communicate with students, faculty, and community
  • Provide a safe, student-centered learning environment
  • Participate in professional development and maintain professional standards
  • Ensure alignment of instruction with IEP goals and objectives
  • Maintain organized lesson plans and student records
  • Assist with discipline procedures and classroom management
  • Support students with daily activities and transitions as needed
