Job summary

Eastpointe Community Schools in Eastpointe, MI is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to assist certified staff in instruction, management and medical needs of students. Location: Elementary Schools TBD; starting immediately.

This full-time role involves supporting students with special needs, reinforcing materials, and collaborating with teachers and IEPT as appropriate. Salary ranges from $18.54 to $19.06 per hour, with responsibilities spanning classroom support and student

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 60 semester hours required.
• Experience with technology in an educational setting.
• Experience working with students or in a school setting.
• Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and independently.
• Medical training to support a student with a seizure disorder.

Responsibilities

• Assist certified staff with instruction, management and medical needs.
• Reinforce material initially introduced by teachers.
• Establish a supportive relationship with students.
• Maintain behavior management and classroom routines.
• Participate in IEPT when appropriate.
• Assist with students' physical needs as needed.
• Serve as resource for guest teachers and inform the teacher of issues.
• Demonstrate reading, writing and communication skills.
• Work effectively with special needs children.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
