Job summary

Centennial School District ISD12 seeks a Special Education and Instructional Paraprofessional at Blue Heron Elementary. 5.25 hours/day, starting ASAP, 9:30 am–3:15 pm, supporting students with disabilities under a licensed teacher.

Tasks include supervision, aiding with ADLs, and data collection for IEP goals. Responsibilities cover instructional support, behavior management, data recording, and collaboration with PT/OT/SLP and other staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Demonstrated aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
• Must be highly qualified: Have at least two years of college credits (usually 60 credits if earned in Minnesota) through an accredited institution of higher education; or Hold an associate's degree or higher; or have a passing score on an approved formal assessment (ParaPro or Paraeducator Assessment)

Responsibilities

• Supervision of students indoors and/or outdoors, including during transitions, lunch, recess, and community-based activities.
• Reinforcing academic skills with individual students or small groups under the direct supervision of a licensed teacher.
• Assisting students with activities of daily living (ADLs), including eating/feeding, transferring and mobility, toileting/diapering, dressing, and hygiene.
• Facilitating behavioral redirection and intervention in alignment with student behavior intervention plans and district protocols, including implementation of de-escalation strategies.
• Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), including collecting and recording data on student goals and objectives
• Collaborating and communicating with the assigned case manager, classroom teachers, and related service providers including PT, OT, SLP, Nurses, and others
• Completing Third Party Billing documentation as required and trained
• Participating in required professional development, training, and meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
