Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist teacher or professional to achieve instructional objectives.
• Assist special population students with goals, personal care, and mobility.
• Prepare and maintain files and records.
• Reinforce material with individuals or small groups.
• Provide programmed practice activities and repetitions as directed.
• Escort students to classes and therapy.
• Monitor and guide independent study and other teacher assignments.
• Report student problems to the teacher and assist with solutions.
• Assist with student mobility and loading/unloading buses.
• Help with breakfast, lunch, snack, hygiene and related routines.
• Maintain individual records for each student.
• Protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
• Assist in implementing school policies and rules governing student life.
• Maintain classroom order and keep students on task.
• Perform office tasks such as photocopying, filing, and answering phones.
• Participate in in-service training programs as assigned.
