Job summary

NOTTOWAY COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS seeks a Substitute Nurse to oversee the School Nurse's Office on an as-needed basis for the current school year in Crewe, Virginia. The RN will administer medications, provide emergency care, and coordinate health screenings per state requirements.

Preferred qualifications include a nursing degree and CPR/AED certification, plus Virginia RN licensure in good standing. This position supports health services across NCPS schools and reports to Human Resources.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
• CPR/AED Certification (adult and child).
• Must be licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Virginia and in good standing with the Virginia Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities

• Implements required health care, developmental, and other screenings per state requirements; evaluates findings, refers and follows up as required by law and School Board policy.
• Initiates referral to parents, school personnel or community health resources for intervention and follow through.
• Administers first aid and emergency care; treats minor accidents and health emergencies; contacts emergency services and parents when necessary; performs first aid and CPR until help arrives.
• Administers daily and PRN medications and nursing care procedures prescribed by the student's physician; follows physician instructions.
