Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills.
• Previous acute care respiratory experience preferred.
• Credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist and licensed.

Responsibilities

• Create and update policies and procedures.
• Provide care by approved protocols and guidelines.
• Provide non-concurrent therapy.
• Educate patients and caregivers about disease management.
• Pursue continuing education beyond licensure.
• Demonstrate competence in specialty areas.
• Complete special projects and research tasks.
• Prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
• Provide in-service education for physicians, respiratory and nursing staff.
• Assist in development and implementation of new programs.
• Respond to emergency situations.
• Attend 50% of staff/committee meetings and in-services.
• Maintain all equipment and daily rounds for calibration.
• Demonstrate problem-solving related to patient status.
• Verify orders and record verbal orders; daily chart checks.
• Use technologies to safely administer medications.
• Practice safe body mechanics.
