Job summary

Hartford HealthCare’s Backus Hospital seeks a clinically competent Respiratory Therapist to provide comprehensive care and therapies for patients with cardiopulmonary needs. You will perform therapy, evaluations and diagnostics with guidance, and work across care units to ensure high-quality respiratory support.

Responsibilities include administering oxygen and meds, managing ventilators, and participating in additional training to develop expertise in specialized areas.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor Degree from an AMA approved Respiratory program.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) granted by NBRC required.
• State of CT Respiratory Care Practitioner license required.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform therapy, management, rehabilitation, diagnostic evaluation and care of patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies.
• Administer respiratory therapy including oxygen, medications, aerosols, ventilators and resuscitation devices.
• Perform pulmonary diagnostic procedures and assessments.
• Apply growth and development principles to provide age-appropriate treatments.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team and pursue ongoing training to enhance expertise.
