Job summary

CARC is seeking a Direct Support Professional for our residential program in New Mexico. The role involves supporting residents with developmental disabilities to live independently and participate in community life. PRN and full-time shifts are available, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

A positive, respectful, and inclusive approach is essential. Responsibilities include daily living assistance, collaboration with the care team, and documenting progress while ensuring safety

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in a residential setting is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to respond calmly and effectively in crisis situations.
• Respect for residents' rights and privacy.
• Ability to complete basic documentation accurately.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Must pass NM Department of Health background check and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain a positive, supportive relationship with residents.
• Provide assistance with daily living activities, including meals, personal hygiene, and household chores.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans.
• Facilitate group activities and social events to promote engagement.
• Support residents in developing independent living skills (budgeting, transportation, job readiness).
• Monitor and document residents' progress; report concerns to supervisor.
• Foster a culturally sensitive environment that respects diversity and self-advocacy.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards of care.
