The Respiratory Therapist - Registered PRN position at University of Miami works as part of a skilled care team to manage patient care using a variety of testing techniques. The incumbent assists physicians in cardiac and pulmonary research and supports accurate diagnosis of respiratory disorders.

The role requires performing tests, operating ventilators, reviewing prescriptions, and educating patients and families on disease management and equipment use.

Formación

• High school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience or certification.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant healthcare experience.
• Ability to learn new procedures, technologies, and adapt to changing priorities.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for colleagues and patients.

Responsabilidades

• Conduct tests such as ECGs, stress tests, and pulmonary function tests.
• Perform bronchopulmonary drainage and teach breathing exercises to patients.
• Set up and operate ventilators and respiratory devices per treatment plans.
• Review prescriptions, measure arterial blood gases, and assess patient condition.
• Determine therapy type, method, duration, and dosages; ensure safety.
• Explain procedures to patients to gain cooperation and reduce anxiety.
• Educate patients and families on disease management and equipment use.
• Monitor responses to therapy and consult physicians on adverse effects.
• Maintain patient charts and supervise students and staff in training.
• Inspect and maintain respiratory therapy equipment for safety and functionality.
