Job summary

Poudre School District in Fort Collins, CO, seeks an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher as a 100% long-term substitute at Bennett Elementary. This leave-cover assignment runs for one semester with 188 workdays and PERA benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with proper teaching licensure program required.
• Experience in an educational setting with early childhood students and/or students with special needs preferred.
• Criminal background check required for hire.
• Valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsements required.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) required within 3 months of hire.
• CPR and First Aid certifications encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan, prepare, and implement course content, formats, and schedules.
• Administer appropriate assessments to evaluate student strengths and needs.
• Create a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunity and manage behavior.
• Monitor student progress and adapt supports as needed.
• Communicate progress and needs with families and staff.
• Collaborate with teachers, support personnel, administrators, and other special education providers.
• Participate in department, team, building, and district meetings.
