Job summary

Waldo Community Action Partners in Mid Coast Maine seeks a Lead Teacher to educate preschoolers in a class of up to 20 children, aligning with Head Start standards and state licensing. You will plan activities, assess progress, and collaborate with CDS to support services and family engagement.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education (or related), a CDA or associate degree, and proven classroom experience with infants/toddlers.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass a physical examination and TB screening.
• Must meet WCAP background clearance requirements.
• Experience teaching infants and toddler children.
• Strong communication skills.
• Strong organizational/time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provides oversight of center in absence of Site Manager.
• Establishes and maintains a safe and healthy environment.
• Plans and implements developmentally appropriate educational activities; ensures compliance with Head Start standards.
• Facilitates compliance with Head Start Performance Standards.
• Conducts observations of each child’s progress and incorporates into curriculum plans.
• Recommends referral for special services as indicated.
• Works with the Family Advocate to support family participation.
• Supervises Assistant Teacher and Classroom Aide; conducts annual evaluations.
