Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania’s Bureau of Blindness and Visual Services—Philadelphia District Office is seeking an Orientation and Mobility Specialist Intern. Qualifications

• Current enrollment in the final year of an accredited college or university bachelor's or master's degree program or certificate program in orientation and mobility.

Responsibilities

• Assessment and Planning: Assist in reviewing customer abilities and needs to help create individualized learning plans
• Instruction Delivery: Support one-on-one or group lessons through guided practice and safe, supervised learning activities
• Equipment Selection: Help identify appropriate canes, travel aids, and basic technology that promote independent travel
• Progress Monitoring: Observe customer development and share updates with supervising staff to support steady improvement
• Support and Counseling: Offer encouragement to customers and families as they build confidence and independence
• Professional Development: Learn current Orientation and Mobility techniques and take part in trainings to strengthen skills
