Job summary

Merit Health Wesley in Hattiesburg, MS seeks a dedicated Occupational Therapist for a full-time role. You will evaluate patients, plan individualized therapies, and deliver interventions to improve daily living and work activities across all ages.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, document thoroughly, and adjust plans as progress is reassessed. Prior OT licensure and BLS are required; mentoring responsibilities may be included.

Qualifications

• OT license required and proven therapy evaluation skills.
• Experience in hospital/rehabilitation settings preferred.
• EMR documentation proficiency is required.

Responsibilities

• Conducts comprehensive OT evaluations to determine physical, cognitive, and emotional needs and documents findings.
• Develops individualized treatment plans with measurable goals and clear documentation for staff use.
• Provides safe OT interventions including exercises and adaptive equipment with session documentation.
• Regularly reassesses progress and updates plans with care team communications.
• Collaborates with physicians, nurses, and rehab professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
• Adapts techniques for age- and condition-specific needs; maintains a safe environment for therapy.
• Mentors new staff and OT students, promoting best practices and orientation.
