Job summary

Marshall Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Paraprofessional to support students in grades 5-8 at Marshall Middle School, in-person. The role includes assisting teachers, implementing IEP plans, and aiding students with daily living tasks and communication needs, including use of assistive devices.

The paraprofessional will help maintain a safe classroom, apply de-escalation techniques, document services, supervise before/after school activities, and may ride the bus as needed.

Qualifications

• Interacts with students according to their IEP.
• Implements behavior plans as directed.
• Assists with daily living activities.
• Recognizes and responds to medical symptoms under nurse supervision.
• Assists with transfers, mobility, and positioning.
• Assists with communication devices.
• Documents delivery of services in logs and charts.
• Maintains a safe learning environment.
• Supervises before/after school, recess and lunch.
• Supports bus routes as needed.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with students according to their IEP.

• Observes and intervenes to redirect inappropriate behavior.
• Assists students with daily living tasks.
• Documents services in written logs and behavior charts.
• Promotes a safe learning environment.
• Supervises students before/after school, recess, and lunch.
• Supports students on special education bus routes as necessary.
