Job summary

St. Barnabas Elementary School in New York seeks a dedicated Middle School Social Studies teacher for grades 6–8.

This full-time role reports to the Principal, with a schedule of Monday–Friday, 7:45 AM–3:20 PM, and compensation based on the CBA ($58,426–$65,140). The ideal candidate will foster a positive, student-centered Catholic learning environment, develop engaging lessons aligned with standards, assess progress, participate in faculty meetings, and support the school's mission.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in education or teaching certification.
• Valid teaching certification or pathway to certification.
• 2–5 years of Middle School teaching experience preferred.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Practicing Catholic preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Teach Social Studies courses for grades 6–8.
• Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards.
• Create a classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, collaboration, and respect.
• Foster a positive and engaging learning environment.
• Assess student progress and maintain accurate academic records.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, faculty, and administration.
• Participate in faculty meetings, school events, and professional development opportunities.
• Integrate technology and hands-on learning experiences into instruction.
• Support the mission and values of Catholic education.
