Job summary

Shasta Regional Medical Group, affiliated with Shasta Regional Medical Center, is seeking a Billing Specialist to manage claims, authorizations, denials, and coding in a clinic setting. You will interact with patients and staff, ensuring compliance with Medi-Cal and Medicare requirements.

The role requires prior clinic billing experience, familiarity with EMR/Practice Management software, and strong communication and analytical skills. A competitive benefits package is provided.

Qualifications

• Previous Billing Experience within a Clinic/Medical Group Business Office Required
• Experience with government programs and collections preferred
• Experience with Rural Healthcare billing preferred
• Experience with EMR/Practice Management billing software required
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to prioritize needs to meet required timelines
• Analytical and problem-solving skills
• Customer Services experience required
• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires)

Responsibilities

• Submit claims to intermediaries and ensure procedures and charges are coded in compliance with payers including Medi-Cal and/or Medicare regulations
• Obtain required authorizations for processing and payment of claims
• Follow up and manage denials for final resolution
• Identify diagnosis and procedure codes (ICD10, CPT, HCPCS, DRG) relevant to reimbursement
• Communicate clearly with clients and staff by phone and in person
• Maintain productivity standards and report
• Obtain updated demographic information for Government Programs billing requirements
• Input follow up notes and retrieve patient information from the system
• Maintain proficiency in Medical Terminology
