Job summary

Hope For Youth, Inc. on Long Island is seeking a Math, Science, and Electives Teacher to join our Amityville education program, serving youth in our full-day classrooms.

Teach to the secondary math and science curriculum, implement effective instruction with available multimedia, assess student progress, and maintain accurate records and reporting. Collaborate with fellow teachers and participate in staff meetings to support internships and community involvement as part of a year-round education

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher is required.
• NYS Teaching certification is required.
• Experience with curriculum development and assessment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach to the curriculum of secondary math and science.
• Implement appropriate instruction/learning strategies and activities, including determining appropriate kind and level of materials.
• Utilize a variety of instructional materials and available multimedia and computer technology to enhance learning.
• Assess students' abilities, strengths and weaknesses.
• Supervise/monitor student's behavior in the classroom.
• Organize and maintain a system of accurate and complete record-keeping, lesson planning, grading and reporting.
• Work collaboratively with the other teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the program.
• Participate in Education, DES and NSD staff meetings.
• Other program and agency related needs.
