Job summary

School District of Lee County is hiring Special Education Elementary (ESE) Teachers to guide students toward growth across intellectual, emotional, physical, and social domains for the 2026-2027 school year. Opportunities exist throughout Lee County in Elementary, Middle, and High school levels.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree and a valid Florida teaching certificate (or out-of-state equivalent). Responsibilities include planning, curriculum alignment, classroom management, progress

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Valid Florida teaching certificate or out-of-state teaching certificate covering appropriate area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Plan individually or cooperatively a program of study that meets students' needs.
• Assist in establishing curriculum objectives and comprehensive plan implementation.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students.
• Guide learning toward curriculum goals with clear objectives for lessons and projects.
• Employ effective instructional methods and materials for stated objectives.
• Assess student progress regularly and provide reports as required.
• Diagnose learning strengths/weaknesses and seek district support.
• Counsel with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
• Assist administration in implementing policies and maintaining order in class.
• Plan and supervise assignments for support staff and volunteers.
• Use technology in teaching and learning processes.
• Maintain accurate records and reports as required by law and policy.
• Adhere to Code of Ethics and district policies.
• Support school improvement and participate in school activities.
• Recognize indicators of student distress or abuse and act per procedures.
