Job summary

East Providence School Department seeks a Long Term Substitute Special Ed. Teacher for Orlo Avenue Elementary School in East Providence, RI. The role covers elementary students with disabilities, delivering individualized instruction and ensuring access to the general curriculum with appropriate supports.

The teacher will develop IEPs, monitor progress, collaborate with PPS staff and parents, and maintain records to reflect student growth and compliance with federal/state laws.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
• 3-5 years of experience preferred.
• Must possess a valid Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) certification as a Special Education Teacher
• Must possess a high degree of tact, diplomacy and confidentiality.
• Must be detailed oriented with good organizational skills.
• Must be proficient with computers.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to the policies and directives of the East Providence School Department.
• Plans and prepares lessons to optimize student learning.
• Designs and implements Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Communicates regularly with students and parents regarding progress and concerns.
• Maintains accurate student records and schedules assessments.
