Job summary

Elizabethton City Schools is seeking an Interim Elementary Classroom Teacher to develop a flexible grade-level program and a classroom environment that promotes learning and personal growth. The role requires strong rapport with students, collaboration with parents, and commitment to student achievement.

The teacher will implement the adopted curriculum, adapt instruction for diverse learners, and maintain accurate records of student progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in elementary education or related field.
• Valid Tennessee teaching certificate at appropriate grade level.
• Experience working with elementary students.
• Alternative qualifications to the above may be found appropriate and acceptable by the Board.

Responsibilities

• Teaches reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music to students.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and regulations.
• Develops, evaluates, and translates lesson plans for individualized or small group learning.
• Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior for a functional learning atmosphere.
• Evaluates students' academic and social growth, maintains records, and prepares progress reports.
• Communicates with parents, counselors, and students to discuss progress and interpret the school program.
• Identifies student needs and cooperates with staff to help students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Creates an effective learning environment with displays, bulletin boards, and centers.
• Maintains professional competence through in-service education and growth activities.
• Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains inventory; identifies community resources.
• Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the school day.
• Participates in curriculum development and faculty committees; sponsors student activities.
• Plans and supervises assignments for educational assistants, student teachers, and volunteers.
• Enforces Board policy on equal educational opportunity and advises on instructional policy.
