Job summary

Rappahannock County Public Schools seeks a Substitute Teacher to support RCES and RCHS, reporting to the Principal. The role requires maintaining student learning aligned with district goals and ensuring a safe, respectful classroom environment.

The ideal candidate will hold a Virginia teaching license and be prepared to start immediately, with duties ranging from implementing lesson plans to supervising students and maintaining classroom order throughout the day.

Qualifications

• Must be able to follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with staff and students.

Responsibilities

• Maintains confidentiality of student and staff information.
• Maintains discipline and classroom control to foster a safe learning environment.
• Provides adequate supervision to ensure student health, welfare, and safety.
• Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Reports to the office on arrival and checks absent teacher materials.
• Notifies authority of injuries, illnesses, or discipline issues promptly.
• Implements lesson plans to maximize instructional time and student engagement.
• Organizes students for effective instruction.
• Dismisses students before leaving the building.
• Collects and returns student papers and materials as needed.
• Determines if services are needed for the next school day.
• Complies with school and division policies and procedures.
• Maintains professional boundaries and serves as a positive role model.
• Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned by building administrators.
