Job summary

Preferred Behavioral Health Group in Lakewood, NJ seeks an Admissions/Program Counselor licensed therapist to assess adults seeking outpatient mental health services, coordinate intake, and align clients with appropriate clinical staff. The role requires ongoing documentation, crisis intervention, and collaboration with program leadership.

Responsibilities include conducting biopsychosocial assessments, creating provisional diagnoses, and planning treatment alongside Clinical/Program Directors.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, or another recognized mental health discipline.
• NJ licensure as LSW, LAC, LAMFT, LCSW, LPC, or LMFT.
• Experience working with adults with a wide range of emotional and behavioral needs.

Responsibilities

• Review incoming referrals, process within 24 hours, and schedule intake appointments.
• Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and formulate diagnoses.
• Admit clients to agency programs or external services as clinically indicated.
• Complete medical record documentation and ensure timely updates.
• Provide crisis intervention during intake or when clinical risk requires it.
• Maintain schedule adherence and manage a small caseload.
• Coordinate services and update Individual Service Plans as needed.
• Plan and facilitate therapeutic groups and psychoeducation activities.
