Cast Iron Coding in Portland, Oregon seeks a Frontend Web Developer with 1+ year of professional experience. You will contribute to HTML, CSS, and UX, and focus on application logic, data fetching, and deciding what renders on the server versus in the browser.

You’ll work with designers, QA, and clients, implement accessible interfaces, review code, and help shape project architecture while staying mindful of budget and timeline.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of professional frontend experience.
• Strong HTML/CSS/UX skills.
• Interest in application logic and architecture, data fetching, and server vs browser rendering.

Responsibilities

• Implement data fetching and state management in frontend applications; decide what renders on the server vs in the browser.
• Work with the server-side capabilities of Astro and TanStack Start (routing, server functions, caching, deployment).
• Maintain and extend existing client projects, including sites built on older technologies.
• Collaborate with designers to build responsive interfaces from designs and prototypes (review in Figma).
• Produce semantic HTML, modern CSS, and JavaScript meeting WCAG accessibility guidelines.
• Work with GraphQL APIs; communicate API design questions to backend.
• Conduct QA and accessibility testing; review teammates' code; communicate with clients; attend frontend team meetings.
• Estimate work and track against budget; manage tasks in ClickUp; provide updates to PMs.
