Job summary

WestCare Foundation, Inc. is hiring an Assistant Teacher in Pembroke Pines, FL to support children from infancy to 5 years old. You will help prepare children for elementary school by building language, social skills and positive behavior.

Responsibilities include maintaining a safe environment, diapering, meals, record-keeping, parent communication, and assisting in activities and field trips. Qualifications include a CDA or higher credential or official substitute, and health/safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education/related field preferred.
• Associates degree with at least 6 college credit hours in early childhood education/child development required.
• National Early Childhood credential or active School-Age Child Care credential may substitute for formal education.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe play environment.
• Sanitize toys and play equipment.
• Organize and store toys and materials to keep areas orderly.
• Dress children and assist with diapering.
• Observe and monitor children’s activities and meals.
• Record daily observations and activities for each child.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about daily activities and concerns.
• Support health and personal habits (eating, rest, toilet).
• Assist with attendance, paperwork, and phone calls as needed.
• Support children’s emotional and social development.
